Michelle D. McKinney, J.D. is available to offer insight from the perspective of both a practicing attorney and SeniorCorporate Counsel of The Miers Group, LLC.  Michelle brings a unique perspective to the team because in addition to private practice, she is lead counsel for a healthcare delivery system that includes benefits consulting, population health enhancement, physician association management and access to diverse healthcare programs. Michelle is an experienced contracting professional and is also a Texas Department of Insurance licensed agent. She has competency with the evolving Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and will be immersed with the company’s healthcare delivery assets such as the Flagship “Narrow Network”.

Michelle McKinney is an active member of the State Bar of Texas and the Dallas Bar Association. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Prior to attending law school, Ms. McKinney received her Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.  Michelle McKinney also earned Dean’s List Honors every semester and won several academic scholarships and awards throughout her undergraduate career.

Daniel Karin, M.D. is available to offer insight from the perspective of both a practicing operating suite physician and a Corporate Medical Director.  Dr. Karin is also licensed by the Texas Department of Insurance as a Life and Health Benefits Counselor. He is an officer in a benefits consulting firm and brings years of major corporate and small business benefit marketing experience to the marketplace.  Dr. Karin is also member of the Dallas Association of Health Underwriters.

Organization Announcement:  Effective immediately, Michelle McKinney has joined the firm as Senior Corporate Counsel. This action resolves a major need in the development of the Company. The Miers Group, L.L.C. manages a healthcare delivery system that includes benefits consulting, population health enhancement, physician association management and provision to diverse healthcare programs. Michelle is an experienced contracting professional and is a Texas Department of Insurance licensed agent. She has competency with the evolving Patient Protection Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and will be immersed with the Company’s healthcare delivery assets.

While at the U of A, she participated in the law school’s bankruptcy clinic, completed an internship with the Federal Public Defender’s Office, and worked as a summer law clerk for the Honorable Jorge Solis of the United States District Court, Northern District of Texas. Prior to attending law school, Ms. McKinney received her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work in 2008 from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey.  At Rutgers, she founded a volunteer program for students interested in Environmental Science and volunteered as a site coordinator for the VITA program, which is an IRS sponsored program for low-income individuals and families.  Michelle McKinney also earned Dean’s List Honors every semester and won several academic scholarships and awards throughout her undergraduate career.

Like putting bricks in a pyramid, the hospital and outpatient contracting is done. Two hundred and fifty physicians can be accessed in Hunt County, Rockwall County and east Dallas. The businesses with admissions to Lake Pointe Medical Center are organized in a data base. Plus, the team has been welcomed into the Dallas Association of Health Underwriters and before its membership, the Flagship has tackled the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act. We are ready to sell and generate new patient flow which to our practitioners will be the first proof of Flagship payoff. Message to Flagship Practitioners

The wait is over! We appreciate your patience. It is like getting an army ready.  Now, the Flagship Narrow Network is in formation to actively market its physicians!

The marketplace for reaching new recipients of your services is changing as several major events are unfolding:

·       The Patient Protection Affordable Care Act is developing, but employers and workers find the current status quite confusing and poorly communicated. There are projections that up to thirty percent of the insured market will evaporate with 2014.

·         Mergers and acquisitions are making the oligopolies (the giant hospital systems) even larger, heightening the competition for commercial and government insured patients.

·         It is believed that the insurance companies will soon have Exchange Products and Narrow Network options. It is also believed that these distribution systems will represent challenging downward pressure on physician reimbursement in return for volume.

·         Physicians who have elected to function out of network and directly negotiate the patients’ final bill are in the bulls-eye of the government, TPAs, and insurers.

·         High deductible and defined benefit plans are presenting new challenges of billing and collection for PCPs.

·         501(a) employed physicians are a growing presence and should be a collegial ally to the independent PCP culture.

The Flagship Physician Network is a unique, community based healthcare sales utility. The Flagship (FPN) works for both you and the Tenet hospitals in Dallas. In the impersonal world of managed care and government payors, the Flagship is compensating PCPs at the highest levels of any PDA/IPA contracts. More importantly, the Flagship is the direct street sales conduit for self-insured patients. The Company Doctor program springs from Flagship sales and service. Clearly, the preferred marketing service is by the Flagship team. The organizational phase is done. Agents and brokers are being enlisted. Chambers of Commerce are being called on. The hospital is being asked to help in the sales effort. And, most importantly, employers start thinking about their insurance around the first of June.
