PDA wants to reach out to physicians who practice in the service areas of Texas Health Presbyterian Dallas, Texas Health Presbyterian Plano, Baylor Trinity, Medical City and HCA Plano.
PDA is all about making the member more money with less hassle and no additional work. To that commitment, we are striving to deliver agreements that are at the top of managed care reimbursements. Even more important, we have exclusive contracts not offered by other IPAs, including the Flagship Physician Network and the TexanPlus Medicare Advantage plan with preferred reimbursement.
Traditional preferred provider contracts have down-trending reimbursement. It is safe to state that there are few increases of physician pay for managed care. PDA believes that the trend to lower reimbursement will be accelerated by ACO competition for commercial market share, and there also will be insurance company products specially designed for the “Exchange” that will bring deeply discounted reimbursement. That will begin to unfold this year and will dominate the market in 2014.
The PDA 2013 Products That Provide a Competitive Advantage
A deal changer is that the first year membership is dramatically less than competing IPAs because management services and medical directorship are provided at no cost. That is correct…there are no big salaries here! The minimal expense to operate PDA reduces the membership dues. No other IPA operates that way in DFW. That is why our introductory membership is $499 vs. $1,000 plus. IPAs are a commodity and should be so priced.
PDA physician members also have “best of breed” reimbursement and a proprietary, national scope PPO that is contracted to support PDA members. Imbedded in the national network is a “Narrow Network” community-based direct contracting program. Much like the past system at Presbyterian Healthcare (The JVE), this new program is being marketed directly to both small and large employee groups in Dallas, Collin, Rockwall and Hunt counties. This product is the “Flagship Physician Network”. Physicians backed by benefits consulting and general agency representation are driving this product roll-out. The new offering provides biometric testing, a “Company Physician” program, wellness, disease management, and expert Third Party Administration.
A recently signed exclusive contract provides worker injury services with outstanding compensation and manageable administrative requirements. This solid program can be paired with an exclusive Medicare Advantage offering that pays a monthly bonus for each enrolled member plus an upside incentive potential without any corollary risk.
The “Company Store” is full of quality revenue-building products and services. This bundle of products and a sales force working to directly contract for you is worth a great deal more than $499! Even if we offered no other services, that is about $40 dollars a month to have a community sales effort working on your behalf.
Some of our managed care contracts will be an improvement; some won’t. Keep any of your old contracts that you want, cherry pick from ours, and join in the PDA product and service campaign for 2013. It is a fact that changing IPAs is not as easy as switching insurance agents. The competition is not really going to expedite your transition.
